Brad Moss
I have been woodturning full-time since 1984. During this period I have drawn inspiration for shapes and designs from the potters of Japan and the Pablo Native American Indians. By studying these vessels I have taken the opportunity to utilise these principles and transfer them into contemporary design through the medium of wood. The techniques, which I gained by experience and studying in the United States of America, have enabled me to create these unique forms.
I continue to be inspired by the beauty in nature, the forms, the colour and the rustic surfaces that are created by time and weathering. I like the visual effects and the tactile response of textures on my “wood art”, but also the contrast of smooth finishes, which enhance the striking grains of the timber.
